EN1317

Varley and Gulliver has 10 compliant Vehicle Restraint Systems. This European Standard specifies requirements for evaluation of conformity of the vehicle restraint systems:

  • Safety barriers
  • Crash cushions
  • Terminals (will be effective when ENV 1317-4 becomes an EN)
  • Transitions (will be effective when ENV 1317-4 becomes an EN)
  • Vehicle/pedestrian parapets (only for the vehicle restraint function)

Pedestrian parapet requirements are not covered in this document. Requirements for the evaluation of durability with respect to weathering are included in this document. Requirements for other forms of durability (e.g. marine environment, sand abrasion) are not included.

CE Marking

CE Marking is a requirement for construction products complying with European Harmonised standards.

This is done through the Construction Products Regulations (CPR), which came into force in July 2013 and stipulates that when a construction product is covered by a Harmonised standard or a European Technical Assessment the manufacturer must draw up a Declaration of Performance when such a product is placed on the market. These products will then be given a CE Mark. The CE Mark is the only mark that attests conformity of the Construction Product. The CPR is a legal requirement within Europe which makes compliance with EN 1317 mandatory as it is a harmonised standard.

EN1090

EN 1090 covers the manufacture of steel and aluminium structures that are not coverd by a specific product standard.
