Pedestrian Parapets

ABOUT PRODUCT

Unlike bridge parapets, which are designed to protect vehicles and pedestrians at the edge of bridges and locations with a vertical drop, our pedestrian parapets are installed purely to protect pedestrians and cyclists at height.

Commonly installed on footbridges, stairways and ramps, the pedestrian parapets are supplied as standard systems or individually designed solutions to meet the vision of architects.

Our pedestrian parapets provide protection while still allowing good visibility through the vertical bars.

Varley and Gulliver’s team of specialists can create bespoke pedestrian parapets in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

Our pedestrian parapets, which are used in a range of locations worldwide, are manufactured by Varley and Gulliver, ensuring the highest quality standards.

Varley and Gulliver proudly supplied an aluminium pedestrian parapet for the iconic Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi, where the rails were designed to resemble an airplane wing. The Sheikh Zayed has been billed as one the most complex bridges ever built.

Other significant pedestrian parapets include a special tubular design for the Erskine Bridge in Scotland, which was provided with enhanced galvanising to increase its corrosion protection, and at the Sitra Causeway in Bahrain.
